BROSSARD, Que. - Hope and speculation ran high when Carey Price took to the ice in full equipment before the Montreal Canadiens game-day skate on Tuesday. But coach Michel Therrien threw a wet blanket on it all when he said emphatically that Price will not play again in the NHL Eastern Conference final, even it the Canadiens managed to extend it to seven games. "Thats just part of the process of making a comeback," said Therrien. "Hes not going to play in that series. Hes not going to play." The goalie who backstopped Canada to gold at the Sochi Olympics in February has not played since suffering a right knee injury in the second period of the series opener when New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider crashed into him while on a breakaway. Therrien said at the time that Price would miss the rest of the series but may be back if Montreal advanced to the Stanley Cup final. It appears that is still the plan. Price had a brief skate wearing a track suit before practice on Monday and was out in his gear with goalie coach Stephane Waite and a trainer for about 30 minutes a day later. He didnt put any pressure on the knee by making stops and starts. But he was down on his knees and stopping shots from Waite, without moving from side to side. "There is a process in place for him to come back, but it wont be in the next few days," said Therrien. "And we dont want to start thinking about the next series because we have a (very) big game to play. "But Carey is working really hard in physio and in the gym. (Monday) was a step, this was another step in his rehab. Hes working on what he has to do." Dustin Tokarski, the third stringer behind regular backup Peter Budaj, took over in the third period of the series opener and has been solid in goal, even though the Rangers took a 3-1 series lead going into Game 5 on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old had played in only 10 regular season NHL games before this years playoffs, perhaps because teams are wary of using an undersized (five-foot-11) goalie, but the Watson, Sask., native has held his own. In 11 periods of hockey from the first to the fourth game, including two overtimes, he allowed eight goals for a 2.63 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. Price was 8-4-1 with a 2.36 average and .919 save percentage. Forward Max Pacioretty has no worries about having Tokarski in the net. "Not at all, anymore," said Pacioretty. "You dont see goalies get hurt too often, so at first its kind of a tough pill to swallow. "But since Game 1 weve had confidence in Dustin. Each game hes better and better and I think that confidence has gone to a whole new level." He was excited to see Price back on the ice, however. "Seeing him every day and talking to him, we know his timeline and we know we have to win for him to come back," he said. "And that he will come back if we win. "So seeing him put the pads on gets the boys going a bit more than it would just seeing him on the (trainers) table. But we know we have to win to get him going and we want to do that for him." Defenceman Mike Weaver said Tokarski has earned the teams confidence. "Having a goalie back there where you know hes going to make that key save consistently, everybodys behind him," said Weaver. "Weve just got to concentrate on we do — speed, getting pucks to the net and getting bodies to the net." The Rangers had good news on the injury front as well as Derek Stepan skated while wearing a guard on his helmet to protect his broken jaw. Stepan was injured in Game 3 on a blindside hit that earned Montreals Brandon Prust a two-game suspension. While Stepan finished the game, he had surgery the next day on his jaw. He was to be checked out by three doctors, but was expected back in the lineup. Coach Alain Vigneault was ready to welcome back one of his top centres. "I could be wrong here, I think the last game he missed was his first one in four years, right?" said Vigneault. "Hes played all the games Ive been here except for the last one, and prior to that hes played all the games since hes been a New York Ranger. "Hes a good, young player that is a big part of our team. He plays huge minutes, plays five-on-five, power play, penalty killing. Hes the only right-handed face-off guy. So hes a big part of our team and has been a big part of our teams success." Air Max 95 Australia Sale . First, the Red Wings scored the tying goal after officials missed the puck hitting the protective netting, then the Kings wound up losing in a shootout. That could affect playoff positioning in the Eastern and Western Conferences, and thats a concern for everyone. Cheap Wholesale Nike Air Max 95 . Ferrer will play Mikhail Youzhny on Sunday after he defeated Dmitry Tursunov 6-2, 6-4 in an all-Russian semifinal. "Youzhny is a good player," Ferrer said.DENVER -- Jhoulys Chacin had a strong finish. It wasnt good enough to overcome a slow start against the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers. "I didnt have the movement on my fastball in the early game, I didnt have the sink," said Chacin, who allowed seven of the first nine Dodgers to reach base in the Colorado Rockies 7-4 loss Tuesday night. "I left a few balls up and they took them the other way." Chacin (13-Cool allowed four runs in seven innings in losing to the Dodgers for the first time in four starts this season. He has won four of his last seven overall starts. "He wasnt his usual self early on," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. "He settled in and gave us seven innings." Ricky Nolasco pitched six strong innings, Carl Crawford had a two-run single among three hits to spark the offence in the absence of injured catalyst Yasiel Puig, as the Dodgers won their sixth straight. The Rockies suffered through a game of mistakes including ones on the bases by Michael Cuddyer and Dexter Fowler. "Cuddy read and saw something, took off a little soon," Weiss said. "Fowler got doubled off on a line drive. .." The costliest mistake came with two outs in the Los Angeles eighth when Charlie Culberson dropped a fly ball hit by Mark Ellis that allowed three runs to score. "I was expecting to be closer to the ball," Culberson said. "I got there quicker than expected and missed it." Puig, who is batting .351 with 14 homers and 32 RBIs in 80 games in his first season in the majors, was rested a day after he aggravated a right knee strain. He remains day to day. Nolasco (12-9) allowed two runs and five hits in improving to 7-1 with a 2.27 ERA in his 11 starts since coming to the Dodgers on July 6 in a trade with Miami. He struck out five and walked one. Crawford went 3 for 5 and Nick Punto added four singles for the Dodgers. Down two runs, the Rockies pulled within one when pinch-hitter Josh Rutledge, batting for Carlos Gonzalez, led off the eighth with a drive off reliever Paco Rodriguez that reached the bleachers in left.dddddddddddd Rodriguez walked Fowler and was relieved by Ronald Belisario. After D.J. LeMahieu sacrificed, Belisario got Troy Tulowitzki to line out to short and Fowler was doubled off second when he was caught off the bag. The Dodgers came back to load the bases with two outs in the ninth against reliever Rex Brothers. Brothers appeared out of the inning, but Culberson had the ball kick off his glove to allow three unearned runs. Chris Withrow got the final out for his first save. The Dodgers opened a 3-0 lead in the second, loading the bases on Andre Ethiers double, Ellis walk and Skip Schumakers infield single. Tim Federowicz drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly and after Nolasco moved the runners up with another sacrifice, Crawford came through with a two-run single to left. Adrian Gonzalez put the Dodgers up 4-0 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Nolasco had allowed only one hit before Charlie Blackmon doubled with two outs in the fifth. Chacin followed with an RBI single to right. "Nolasco had a good slider," Weiss said. "He was throwing it on the outside part of the plate and our guys were having a hard time picking it up." The Rockies pulled within two after LeMahieu doubled to start the sixth, took third when left fielder Crawford bobbled LeMahieus liner for an error and scored on Tulowitzkis groundout. NOTES: The Rockies have activated Gonzalez from the DL but his availability remains limited because of lingering soreness in a joint of his right middle finger. He entered in the eighth as a defensive replacement but was lifted in the bottom of the inning for Rutledge as a precaution against hurting the finger by swinging the bat. ... With active rosters expanded, the Rockies also recalled from the minors pitchers Mitchell Boggs, Manuel Corpas and Collin McHugh and infielder/outfielder Ryan Wheeler. ... RHP Edinson Volquez (9-10) will oppose Jorge De La Rosa (15-6)of the Rockies on Wednesday.
